Giving Voice to Medical Coding
Medical codes form the backbone of the Health Sector in Denmark. The codes are used for many different purposes – stretching from budgeting, planning to registry-based research and clinical improvement. As hospitals become more data driven and explore the potentials of artificial intelligence, the importance of medical codes increases.
However, time is scarce at the hospitals, and it is difficult for doctors as well as nurses to find the time for what is often considered just another documentation burden.
In Omilon we have set out to develop a voice driven coding assistant that helps get the coding right – without stealing valuable time from the patients. Building on top of our speech recognition solutions, our AI tool turns clinical dictations into medical code suggestions and provides both doctors and nurses with the opportunity to get their coding improved and validated – as they speak.
