The healthcare ecosystem of the future is being shaped at Vitalis 2025

Today, on March 4, the highly anticipated conference program for Vitalis 2025, the Nordic region’s leading meeting place for future health and care, is presented. Over four insightful days, May 19-22, nearly 100 sessions will be held in the international tracks, bringing together thought leaders, policymakers and industry experts. Hans Almvide, conference manager at Vitalis, offers a glimpse of what’s in store.

– The healthcare ecosystem of the future is being shaped at Vitalis. After last year’s significant focus on AI, which dominated much of the discussion, this year’s emphasis is on the evolving ecosystem being driven by digitalization and emerging technologies,”says Hans Almvide.

Vitalis week: Setting the stage for the future

The Vitalis week kicks off on Monday with high-level meetings and pre-conference activities, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss the strategic direction of digital health. These discussions will then merge into the main event, with all participants gathering for the Vitalis Opening Keynote on May 19 from 3-5 PM, followed by a welcome reception hosted by the City of Gothenburg.

This year’s Opening Keynote features an inspiring lineup, including Ola Mattson, Secretary General of the Children’s Cancer Fund, alongside international experts Marco Perez, Associate Professor at Stanford University Medical School and Annalisa Trama, Head of the Evaluative Epidemiology Unit at the National Cancer Institute in Milan. Together, they will explore how technical advancements can be translated into real-world clinical applications, ensuring tangible benefits for patients.

International standards and digital interoperability

A key theme of this year’s conference is interoperability and the importance of common standards in shaping a cohesive healthcare ecosystem. Vitalis 2025 brings together international standards organizations to discuss how enhanced collaboration can prevent the pitfalls of fragmented systems and technological lock-ins.

– It’s not about choosing a single standard, but rather selecting the right standards for each need and ensuring that they can coexist and harmonize to support seamless integration across systems, emphasizes Almvide.

This topic is critical as global healthcare systems strive to create infrastructures that enable the smooth exchange of health data, improving efficiency, patient outcomes and cross-border collaboration.

The role of health data in innovation and research

Another major focus area at Vitalis 2025 is the role of health data in shaping the future of medicine. Access to structured, high-quality health data is essential for both research and the life sciences industry to develop innovative treatments and drive medical advancements.

This year, Vitalis is proud to host a dedicated summit on Nordic health data, showcasing how the region’s advanced digital infrastructure is being leveraged to enhance research capabilities and improve patient care. The program features a mix of Swedish and Nordic presentations alongside contributions from global pioneers in healthcare digitalization, offering valuable insights into best practices and emerging trends.

Collaboration across borders to drive healthcare forward

As the Nordic region continues to lead in digital health maturity, Vitalis provides a platform for knowledge-sharing between countries and organizations that are at the forefront of healthcare transformation. The conference serves as a catalyst for fostering international partnerships, ensuring that the collective expertise from around the world contributes to a more efficient and patient-centered healthcare ecosystem.

Hans Almvide concludes with an invitation:
– We look forward to advancing healthcare together, leveraging the strengths of the Nordic region’s digital health maturity and collaborating with global leaders to accelerate innovation and improve healthcare outcomes worldwide.

The Vitalis conference focuses on major future issues in healthcare. World-leading expertise and research are combined with knowledge transfer and successful examples that inspire and drive the necessary development toward the healthcare of the future.
